FB Residence

In cooperation with architect Luc  Vandewynckel

A subtle play of tradition and contemporary architecture. A solid design starts with a profound study of the environment: it is an open, gently sloping landscape, with here and there the silhouette of a farm. The features of the local architecture are repeated in the design and, at certain points, have been simplified. This gives the house a subtle touch of modernity.

Double glazed openings contrast sharply with the traditionally inspired block frame windows. They offer a magnificent view of the landscape and they bring lots of daylight into the entire house.

The interior has a Scandinavian touch and also an organic tinge: the rooms fade into one another, nevertheless always offering a different atmosphere.

Because of the very sound isolation, the careful attention to windproofness and an optimal heating system, this house may be considered as a low-energy house.
